the introduction to the exhibition in paris’ centre pompidou stated that only three percent of the artists in modern museums is female. furthermore, nearly 90 percent of the nudes exhibited is female. hence, ‘the best chance for a woman to get into a museum is naked’. well, the exhibition was so-so. not my cup of tea.
but it made me think. i have no idea what percentage of street-artists is female. there is no curator, so one could expect the numbers are more equal. nevertheless, i found much more women than men exhibited in the streets. this is a selection of the fine, beautiful, strong and, yes indeed, naked women i encountered.
